Aikman prepares to leave Fox for ESPN 'Monday Night ' cell

Not starting the free agency for many more weeks, the business is still on the cusp of a pickup when it comes to moving between webcast battalions with perhaps the biggest surprise of them all.

Troy Aikman is expected to come in as the lead critic on ESPN's "Monday Night Football" after 22 times with Fox.

The New York Post reported that Aikman would sign up for a five-time deal that would rival $17.5 million each time Tony Romo is struck at CBS.

ESPN and Fox have not commented on Aikman's future.

Aikman and Joe Buck have been Fox's first team squads from the start of 2002, but there's been boredom in the past couple of months that the Hall of Fame quarterback has been aspiring to move on.

Many have allowed Aikman to join Michaels at Amazon, which will be responsible for the upcoming season of “Friday Night Football”. Instead, it's ESPN, which has its own mean star after failing with Romo and Peyton Manning in recent seasons.

ESPN President Jimmy Pietaro has tried to convince Manning multiple times to join the "Monday Night Football" team since retiring after the 2015 season.

Pitaro's tolerance paid off one last time when The Manningcast debuted with Peyton and Eli Manning to stir up opinions.

The "Monday Night Football with Peyton and Eli" package, which consists of 10 matches, runs until 2024. Steve Levy, Brian Grace, and Louis Redick have been broadcasting live for the past two seasons. Michaels can take a second look at ESPN now that they have Aikman.

Michaels was in line to be the game's host when the "Monday Night" package moved from ABC to ESPN in 2006.

He was traded to NBC after asking to stay on John Madden, sponsor Fred Gaudelli and director Drew Esocoff after they were flagged to go to "Sunday Night Football."

Significant changes have occurred in the multinational force cell from the beginning of Mike Terrico's departure to NBC in 2016. Terrico was the voice of play by play for 10 seasons (2006-15) and collaborated with Jon Gruden in his last seven seasons.

Sean McDonough became Terrico's official for 2016 and 2017 respectively and worked with Gruden after Gruden left to take over as coach of the Aggressors and McDonough sought a return to the Football Association Board, ESPN went with a three-person cell of Joe Tessitore, Jason Witten and Booger McFarland in 2018.

Witten was quick to act as a critic and vowed to return in 2019.

Taxes, Grace, and Reddick could also stay in touch as the alternate crew of 'Monday Night'.

ESPN/ABC will have 23 regular season games when the league's new broadcast deal begins.

ABC will also have a 2027 Super Bowl, marking its return to telecasting the NFL crown for the first time since 2006.

Fox could bump into Greg Olsen to make it to the top platoon or could run into former New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton, however he  He will follow the same path as Aikman - once in no, if Olsen is promoted.

Platoon before ascension, regardless of who replaces Aikman, will be a fateful choice for Fox for the Super Bowls of 2023 and 2025.

Buck's contract expires at the next time.  Tom Brady would be an interesting prospect for any network, but the recently retired quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl winner hasn't expressed an interest in moving to the cell.

Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay could also be a base card for Fox or Amazon if he decides to retire.
